Howdy Light Painting Enthusiasts!!

I made a statement on the website that our website subscribers would be the FIRST to know when a new tool is made available on our website. The time has come to make that announcement!

As some of you may already know, we (we as in my son and I) have been working on coming up with a tool that would mimic the light painting qualities found in the LED Lenser V24. After a few months of trial and error, we are very excited to officially announce that we finally have a finish product ready to market!

Introducing the new PCP for Light Painters! …. The LightPaintingTools.com – Programmed Color Phaser!!!!

The naming contest was held on both Facebook and Flickr to come up with a name for the tool and some of the suggested names were simply awesome and had me rolling in laughter! The “TxPilot Light” was a creative one that was suggested by Eric Mellinger (emellin66 on flickr)! Then there were was the “Rod of Awesomeness” suggestion by Concretin Nik and and “TxPilot’s Joystick” by vikwaters! Ha! But I think the best off the wall suggestion was by Mike Kline (NotKalvin on flickr) who suggested the name “Frank” saying that his kids use to name everything Frank! But out of all the suggestions, it was hard to come up with one that just struck me as the obvious one to use, but a few of them just stuck with me so I ended up deciding on using ~jah’s suggestion of “Programmed Color Phaser”! I think maybe that being a Trekkie sort of had me hooked on the Phaser part of that!

So… here are the crazy cool specs!

And these orb tools will have 30 LEDs each instead of the 18 to 20 that have been the standard in the past!

The New RGB LED Light Wand is here!

The RGB LED Light Wand is great for use with Light Painting portraits or in any situation where you would like to add a splash of pure color to your image. The RGB LED Light Wand can be used for adding lines, waves, or even large calligraphy type characters to your scene. Easy to use lever switches for each of the primary colors (Red, Green, and Blue) and a simple momentary push button to activate it make this tool a pleasure to light paint with! Colors can also be mixed to create Yellow, Cyan, Magenta, and White as well! The RGB LED Light Wand also comes with a slip on diffuser to give you the ability to add pinpoint lines of light or more diffused light patterns. It can be used with one or both hands giving you full freedom to vary line widths and patterns.

(The difference between the RGB LED Light Wand and the Digital Light Wand is that the RGB LED Light Wand will only light up with one single color at a time instead of having the ability through a micro-controller to light up each RGB LED in different colors at the same time.)

The RGB LED Light Wand has 30 LEDs in a .5 meter strip and uses 8 AAA batteries.

Light painting is a photographic technique usually performed at night or in a dark area where a photographer introduces different lighting elements during a single long exposure photograph. The duration of the exposure is typically around 5 minutes long but can range from a few seconds to several hours. Lighting elements can be introduced directly or indirectly using flashlights, light up toys, cell phones, or anything that emits light. The type of equipment required for light painting can include any camera that has the ability for longer shutter speeds. Most Light Painting photographers use a Digital SLR along with a tripod and remote shutter release to give them full flexibility with their light painting efforts.
